My Humphrey Fellow friends in Atlanta might remember Dr. Pierre Kwizera from Burundi who invited me to travel with his team of community organizers into rural areas of his country.
What a grand adventure equal to any GO West trip!
We met local business, government and religious leaders who are all working together to create a better economic & spiritual environment for the current generation of students.
Along the way, they surprised me by taking me to the source of the White Nile River that starts as a tiny trickle of water. But as it continues to flow downstream it becomes more and more powerful from the other streams and bodies of water that join in. It reminds me of a favorite promise in the Bible from Ezekiel 47:6-12.
The Prophet Ezekiel saw a similar mighty river 2500 years ago when God asked him:
“Do you see this?”
Then he led me back to the bank of the river. When I arrived there, I saw a great number of trees on each side of the river. He said to me, “This water flows toward the eastern region and goes down into the Arabah, where it enters the Dead Sea… Swarms of living creatures will live wherever the river flows. There will be large numbers of fish, because this water flows there and makes the salt water fresh; so where the river flows everything will live. Fishermen will stand along the shore… there will be places for spreading nets. The fish will be of many kinds —like the fish of the Mediterranean Sea…Fruit trees of all kinds will grow on both banks of the river. Their leaves will not wither, nor will their fruit fail. Every month they will bear fruit, because the water from the sanctuary flows to them. Their fruit will serve for food and their leaves for healing.”
What do you see?
Is the Spirit of the Living God showing you to plunge into a stream to go fishing; one that’s becoming a river to nourish trees to be food & their leaves for healing to the nations?
if so, iFace is looking serious people of faith who will trust the Lord for lasting spiritual fruit.
