I woke up this morning desiring to experience God by spending a few extra minutes praying and reading the bible. But my all-purpose tool–the Swiss Army knife that makes my time with God upfront and personal–my iPhone (that hosts my iBible, iPrayers & some would say my iGod or is it my iDol?) did not recharge last night. Although I had plugged it in to a kitchen wall socket, it was, like my spirit, dead.

So began the search in the dark to the basement electrical panel to see which breaker needed to be reset. Back and forth I went up & down the stairs to see if any of the lights were on. One by one I tested different circuits. None did the trick. After stumbling around unsuccessfully for 30 minutes, I left for a breakfast appointment with my pal Patrick with whom I shared my story. Patrick asked if our new kitchen had GFCI (ground-fault circuit interrupter) sockets. Duh. All the was required was a gentle touch on that little, almost hidden button on one of the kitchen sockets. Sometimes ya gotta know a friend with good advice on which circuit breaker to reset.

“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12
